|Our Biosecurity For Birds mascot is proud, loud, and a hero to his feathered friends. His job is to be vigilant and help insure that all birds are protected from infectious diseases like avian influenza (bird flu). That’s why he’s holding up a spyglass and looking out for other birds. He’ll raise a squawk if he sees practices that might spread disease, but he needs a name.|
Your entry should accurately reflect the subject matter and personality of the Biosecurity For Birds logo character. All entries will be credited with the person’s name. The deadline for submitting entries is September 30, 2010.
Three finalists will be chosen in October and each will win a Biosecurity for birds duffle bag. The winner will receive a grand prize.
How to Enter
Enter your name suggestions below. You may submit a total of 3 names. By submitting the name(s), you are granting USDA/APHIS the right to reproduce, display and publish your submission without compensation.
The deadline for submitting entries is September 30, 2010.
Judging will be done in two phases. Phase one judging will be by USDA/APHIS public affairs staff to select three finalists. Names will be judged on overall impact, creativity, and accurate adherence to the subject matter. The top three finalists will be notified by email in early October.
Phase two judging will be done by the public
The finalists will be posted on line and the public can vote on their favorite name. Additionally, the final names will be displayed at the Biosecurity For Birds booth at the FFA Convention,
October 20-23 in Indianapolis, IN, where visitors will be invited to vote for their favorite names.
The winner will be notified by e-mail the last week in October and announced during Bird Health Awareness Week, November 1-7, 2010.
